Nice place, European feel. Wooden floor, candles. Great place to meet people. They also have a nice menu of sandwiches, salads, and pasta salads. Unfortunately it is on Union Street, or "Yuppie Central". I didn't like sitting amongst cell-phones and listening to mindless, materialistic blabber.

Reader Recommendations:

1. An oh-so-little cafe (14th and Natoma) is an independent shop. Tyler, the owner, is tending 90 percent of the time. jazz LP's provide some cover for conversation but aren't cranked up too loud. I hesitated for a bit to recommend this one, as I don't want to lose my favorite establishment to tourists, but what the hell. The shop opens early and closes early, too (7-6?).

2. The Bearded Lady (14th and Guerrero) is an independent, queer-focused cafe. The door says something like: "for dykes, trannies, freaks, queers, fags, and other people." Honestly, the rundown feel they go for is a bit too much for me, but, hey, some people might really be into that.
