Description: Owner Geri Schapira set out to create a low-key neighborhood cafe and ice cream spot where nearby DePaul students, singles, young couples and families could hang (not to mention their dogs, which are welcomed with a bowl of treats and water dish in the sidewalk cafe). The result is a sun-washed, laidback storefront emphasizing locally produced food and drink like Intelligentsia coffee and ultra-rich ice cream from Homer's of Wilmette. With full Italian coffee bar service, a friendly staff serves up all the usual espresso drinks as well as a wickedly good Frostaccino (a blended iced mocha with Ghiradelli syrup). Pastries and Mighty Leaf Teas are also available. The cafe offers mellow music while an oversized sofa, board games and generous views of Jonquil Park across the street encourage customers to linger.
